first post!!1!

Welcome to my Grand Blog Experiment!

Well, perhaps “grand” is the wrong word. Let’s go with “new” instead and see where it goes from there. I’ll stick with “experiment” though, as I’m not sure what will become of these pages, if anything much at all. Will I bother to write more than this first article? Will I write for a while, then lose interest like many others who were more keen than I to jump on the bloggo bandwagon? Will I still be at it in a year? Two years? Five or ten even? Who can say? Who will care?

I’ve been meaning to start a blog for a while as I will often run across something interesting (to me at any rate) on my web travels, come up with an interesting (to me at any rate) bit of code or whatever or just feel like a good old rant, but I’ve never had anywhere suitable to collect all these random bits and pieces. They’re too miscellaneous to comfortably fit in to the structure of the main site and so they’ve languished in forgotten ten-deep directory structures, the back end of a rarely checked mailbox or just bounced around in my head when I’m idling on the bus.

But no more, you lucky things

So my intentions for this annex of my little corner of the ‘net is to contain this random miscellanery that I’d otherwise lose track of. The title, “Wee Doors Banging”, is meant to reflect this and comes from something my dad used to say to me when I was young(er) and was going on about some mad idea or other that I’d come up with (I believe this was a fairly common ocurrence):

“John, your head’s full of wee doors … and they’re all banging”

So there you have it. First post … done.

Now let’s see what happens from here…
